Watsu is like a passive form of Dance or Yoga, and a Shiatsu treatment all in one.

Drifting

In a session...

moments of stillness vary with rhythmical smooth movements and deep massage freeing the body in ways impossible on land.
The benefits can include gentle, yet deep stretching and a release of muscular and joint restrictions. This includes a state of deep relaxation, which encourages the release of stress and tensions unparalleled by any other healing method.

Watsu is a passive form of Yoga and Hydro therapy, that supports and gently moves a receiver through warm water in graceful, fluid movements. Soothing the sympathetic_ and enhancing the Parasympathetic nervous systems. Watsu has profound effects on the neuromuscular system.

Any modality of healing you may practise - shiatsu, rebalancing, cranio-sacral, reiki, massage, etc. - can be incorporated into your own water work, on whatever level. The possibilities are endless, you decide how many of the following courses you will want to take. For your own better understanding, we advise you to start with Watsu.

About Watsu®:

Watsu was developed in the U.S by Harold Dull, director of the Harbin School of Shiatsu and Massage
by applying the stretches and principles of the Zen Shiatsu he had studied in Japan while floating people in warm water.
In the orient, stretching is an ancient technique of opening the channels through which our Chi energy flows.
It is even older than acupuncture.

The warm water is associated with the body’s deepest state of waking relaxation and makes an ideal medium for applying the stretches.

The support of water takes weight off the vertebrae and allows the spine to be moved in ways impossible on land.
Gentle, gradual twists and pulls relieve the pressure a rigid spine places on nerves
and helps undo any dysfunctions this pressure can cause to the organs serviced by those nerves.
As a result, the receiver experiences greater flexibility and freedom.

Watsu gently moves and supports you in graceful, fluid movements.
Soothing the sympathetic - and enhances the parasympathetic nervous systems.
Watsu has profound effects on the neuromuscular system.

Watsu® has been shown to relieve pain, release tension and reduce stress. It increases the body’s range of motion, improves circulation and radiates warmth, promoting deep relaxation and well-being.

While being floated, cradled, rocked and stretched during Watsu®, a range of emotions can arise and be released into the process of continuous flow.

You leave a session able to face life out of the water, reprogrammed, with greater equanimity and flexibility.
